X-Day for sale: a proven GP42 ready to win again

Grand prix race boats that can still win at the top level don't come up for sale often. X-Day (GER 8419), a Farr GP42 2.60, is one of them. She's lying in Kiel, Germany, with EU VAT paid, and the asking price is €250,000.
Her race record
X-Day is still winning races. In just the last three seasons she has:
won the 2024 Malta Coastal Race outright
finished 8th overall in the 2025 Rolex Fastnet Race, in one of offshore racing's deepest fleets
won the 2023 ORC Corinthian European Championship
Those results cover short inshore courses, a coastal race and a 600-mile offshore classic. The GP42 platform is fast in all of them. She comes with a 2026 ORC certificate and an endorsed IRC certificate, so she's ready to race next season.

Built to go fast
Farr Yacht Design drew the GP42 2.60 in 2007, and X-Day was launched in 2008. Her hull and deck are pre-preg carbon over a foam core, so she's light and stiff. She has a fixed bowsprit and a square-top main. The rig is a high-modulus carbon mast and boom from Southern Spars, with twin spreaders. A composite headstay went in in 2017 and a Gorilla Foil in 2024.
Under the water she has a hollow steel keel fin, fitted in 2016, and a carbon rudder and tiller. She also has water ballast of 430 litres per side, which gives her extra righting moment offshore without adding permanent weight.
Refitted and upgraded
X-Day has been kept up to date, not just maintained:
Electrical: a full rewire by Voltsport in 2017, plus a lithium battery upgrade with Bluetooth monitoring
Electronics: a B&G H5000 processor, two GFD displays, four Garmin GNX 120 mast displays, a Vesper Cortex AIS/VHF and a Thrane LT-500 compass
Connectivity: a Pepwave router and a fixed mini PC for navigation and routing
Deck: Harken 65.3 primaries, a 50.3 pit winch and five 50.2s, all driven from a Harken MX pedestal on carbon drive shafts. Spinlock clutches, and Karver KF1/KF5 and KZ furlers

Plenty of sails
The sail wardrobe is large. It includes a North Carbon inventory, new Quantum sails from 2025 and a 2024 North A6 asymmetric. There are several mainsails, headsails, staysails and downwind sails, with measurements and dates listed, so a new owner can race her hard from day one.
Ready for offshore racing
X-Day carries a full Category 2 safety kit. That includes a 10-person liferaft, 12 lifejackets with GPS trackers, and ground tackle. Down below there are eight berths (six full-size and two small), enough for a full offshore crew. A Volvo Penta D1-30 engine and six bilge pumps cover the practical side.

Why X-Day makes sense
X-Day gives you grand prix build quality, current certificates and recent race wins, without the cost and wait of a new build. Whether you're planning a Fastnet campaign, the Mediterranean offshore circuit or ORC championships, she's already done it and won.
